It’s not hard to wake up in the morning
You just have to un-close your eyes
Let the light come in when you lift up those eyelids
And know that you have slept through the night
The hard part is getting up
Getting out of your comfort zone
Telling yourself to gather your strength
And let it flow your cheeks to your feet
Look forward to that time when you can stop
Convincing yourself to get up
Because you don’t have to
Because you’re already there
Because the wheel kept on turning
and you don’t have to push it anywhere
I don’t think I have to spell it out
Because each of us has one, whether we admit it or not
A dream, a goal, a mission, a passion that our eyes are open to
But our minds so cowardly keep us from going
How many times do we have to fool ourselves that time is on our side
Oh how we’ve gotten so good in telling lies
We’ve been proficient in making excuses
We dream our days away knowing we’re given limited mornings
Knowing doesn’t change a thing
It’s what you do with that knowledge
Waking up doesn’t matter
If you stay in bed and hide under covers
